Night phobia is most common in kindergarten. It involves imagination – an important factor in a baby’s life. It does not reflect emotional or neurological problems. It is also not a problem in the future at all. This syndrome is harmless to babies.
There is some discussion around how parents deal with night phobia for their babies
- Some experts believe that babies need to be gently awakened and reassured and then help them sleep again.
- Other opinions suggest that parents just need to stay in the baby’s observation room, making sure the baby is okay – that’s enough. This syndrome only appears about 10 minutes in the middle of the night only.
- Parents need to be very calm and make the baby feel that the baby is not alone, even though the baby never wakes up to know that.
- Another way is that parents can wake up their baby for 15 minutes before the baby starts to develop this syndrome every night. This can stop night phobia before it occurs.
